A father’s decision to buy a life jacket to protect his 5-year old son has been praised by parents after the boy died in a shootout in the Philippines.
The boy was playing with his brother when the parents opened fire on them, killing their two-year olds, 14-yearold Elie and 15-year age-old Yohana, police said.
The bullet from the gun hit the boy’s head and left him in a critical condition, according to the Inquirer newspaper.
The parents, who have not been named, are being investigated for murder.
They have been taken into custody and are being questioned by authorities, police spokesman Captain Fernando Cala said.
His son was taken to hospital in serious condition, he said.
Police said the gunman, who was armed with a handgun, killed the boy after he ran away.
He is still being treated for injuries to his head and face.
